George W. Rowe

After 50 years of practicing law at the highest levels, George W. Rowe is now enjoying a well-deserved retirementt

George W. Rowe was born on March 18, 1946, in Newport News, Virginia. He graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. In the Fall of 1968 he received the call from Uncle Sam and served in the U.S. Army, returning to law school at the University of Richmond, T. C. Williams School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in December of 1973. From February of 1974 until the present time, he has practiced law in the Richmond area, concentrating in commercial real estate transactions, commercial lender representation and business transactions. Mr. Rowe has represented thrifts and banks in lending transactions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and in most Southeastern states, as well as Texas and Colorado. Mr. Rowe also has extensive experience in representing developers in multi-family housing transactions, mixed use developments and retail facilities, and in representing a number of homebuilders. He has enjoyed working with developers in assembling condominium projects and in general working to advise clients on various aspects of condominium law. Residential real estate transactions, small business transactions, and wills and estate planning round out his practice.

Mr. Rowe has been a member of the American Bar Association in which he was also a member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section. Within this last section, Mr. Rowe has previously served as a member of the Nonrecourse Transaction Subcommittee of the Mortgages and Other Debt Financing Committee and also as a member of the Foreclosure and Related Remedies subcommittee. Mr. Rowe is also a member of the Virginia Bar Association and the Virginia State Bar. In the Bar Association of the City of Richmond, he is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Real Estate Section. In the Virginia Bar Association, he has served as a member of the Real Estate Council of the Real Estate Law Section. As a lecturer in continuing legal education, Mr. Rowe has addressed diverse topics including commercial leasing law, mechanics’ lien problems and title insurance matters. Virginia Business magazine has twice selected Mr. Rowe as among its Virginia Legal Elite
